Our Mission
The William T. Byrd Foundation is a US-based 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to improve the lives of young people in Nigeria, particularly women, through education, business opportunity and micro-lending. Founded by Retired Naval Officer Bill Byrd, the organization is named`for his father, and grandfather, who instilled the importance of giving back from an early age.
After 22 years as a career Naval Officer, Bill went to work as a business and government consultant in Nigeria. While on the ground working with the Nigerian government and the US State Department, Captain Byrd saw an enormous need for humanitarian assistance at the local level.
